This Crater Lake Oregon elopement was one of the highlights of my year as a destination oregon elopement photographer. We got lucky with one of the most insanely beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen at an elopement. Oregon is typically pretty smokey in summer and fall due to wild fires but the smoke only seemed to enhance the beauty of the sunset. We also were graced with the faintest and fleeting moments of a rainbow.
We started the day with getting ready and a first look at Tetherow Resort in Bend. S + C got ready separately and did a first look on the wooden bridge at Tetherow overlooking the golf course.
Tetherow is a golf course resort and wedding venue in Bend, Oregon. They have rental houses that make the perfect getting ready space.
Tetherow has this really cool wooden bridge overlooking the cascade mountain range and the golf course. An ideal location for the first look and some dancing 🙂
After the first look and some bridal portraits, we headed back to the house on the golf cart. The perks of doing wedding portraits on a golf course is the transportation!
Arriving at Crater Lake National Park for their actual elopement, we scoped out the location where we wanted to do the ceremony. I want to mention that you can’t just show up to Crater Lake National Park and get married, you must first obtain a permit and that can take 8+ weeks. Do your preparation! (I have the contact information so when you book your destination elopement with me I help you with that stuff)
From lakeside ceremony to signing the marriage license in the forest.
At this point the sun was heading down, so we drove to the far side of the lake to watch it set. It had been raining and there was even a glimpse of a rainbow. Could you get more lucky for your elopement day?
Smoke from the wildfires created an intense orange haze mixed with the sunset colors over Crater Lake to give us one of the most intense sunsets I’ve ever seen .
The married couple finished off their elopement day at Crater Lake with a little slow dance, some celebratory bubbly and cake.
