Considering traveling for a Yosemite destination engagement photoshoot? Yes please. I LOVE roadtrips, and this was no exception. My husband and I purchased a truck camper that was so much fun to take on this trip. I’m lucky he was able to travel with me, he’s my favorite travel companion. We try to do a few roadtrips a year, and this one was a doozy. It was 12 hours of driving to get to our camp in Yosemite which we split into two days. Driving across the US is not something I am a stranger to, and I especially love autumn roadtrips for the colorful views. Yosemite National Park doesn’t necessarily have any autumn colors because most of the trees there don’t change color. But the drive from Bend, Oregon was so beautiful!
One thing to keep in mind when planning a Yosemite destination engagement or elopement, is the sheer vast expanse of Yosemite National Park. From our campground at Wawona it was an hour drive to Glacier point which is where you see these photos taken. Most the speed limit in the National Park is 25mph or 45mph, with A LOT of tight corners so you have to map everything and see how long it will take regardless of how many miles it is. If you are driving through at a busy time of year/day it can be even worse with traffic so plan your elopement accordingly!
Another thing to note is, if you’re shooting at Glacier point it is a good location for sunrise. However, just because the weather app says the sun will rise at 7:08 it still might not peak over the horizon until 7:32 haha so just be prepared to wait around in the dusk!! We were there on a Wednesday, and there wasn’t toooo many people there, but you still might not get the exact spot you were hoping for so its a good idea to scope a few areas you would be happy with. & thats where I come in!

Yosemite National Park is one the coolest places to elope or have your engagement session. If you’re having a tough time choosing a destination location for your elopement, this should be at the top of your list. It offers so much from views of Half dome here from a top of Glacier Point, and then you can wander down to the valley and get the beautiful meadow views of Half Dome.
