Oregon Engagement Session on The Gorge

Spring is by the far most beautiful time for an Oregon engagement session on The Gorge. The Gorge, while normally quite neutral toned in various shades of tan and brown comes to life in the spring with vibrant greens and yellows. Wildflowers blanket the hills in a carpet of color. An ideal engagement session location in Oregon for sureeee

One thing to know about The Gorge in Oregon is that, BROTHER does it get windy af sometimes. This was one of those times. Winds must have been 20+ mph in gusts. I was being pulled backward with a strong force. —- luckily with my camera bag on it weighs a million lbs and anchored.

No matter the weather, WE GONNA GET THOSE PHOTOS BABY! Even with the wind L + K were just rolling with me. We can’t change the weather especially in Oregon so might as well just make the best of it. Especially for an engagement session when you’re planning in months in advance, you can only give it your best guess for weather. In Oregon you have some reliable weather in certain areas, but when you want the GORGEous location (pun intended lol) then you get what you get and take the risk.

^ Worth the risk right???

I guess the benefit of the weather meant that there weren’t any other people here in an otherwise somewhat popular tourist viewpoint. In Oregon most of the engagement locations I photograph at are best visited on weekdays to avoid other crowds of people. The Gorge is about 2+/- hours from Bend, Oregon where i live. The drive is pleasant though and I love shooting engagements at cool destinations like this! This would also be a sick Oregon location to elope at!

Luckily this whole circle parking lot was empty and we definitely took advantage.

The hills in The Gorge really do look stunning this time of year. I would not guess this was in Oregon if I saw these photos. The greenery is just insane.

Since the wind was absolutely fcking brutal, we opted to drive down the off the rim and take some time in the hillside trees away from the direct path of the gusts. L + K were awesome and ready to roll with the adjustments and we quickly found a sweet little spot not just a few minutes down the road.

A little forest pocket size meadow with a blanket? I’m INNNNN

I don’t require my couples to bring props to their engagement sessions but it doesn’t hurt.

Photos that feel like they’re stills from an old romantic film is always the goal. My couples constantly tell me they have so much fun during our engagement photoshoots and it makes me sad we can’t do engagement sessions once year…..? why can’t we haha
