I loved doing this filmy editorial engagement in downtown Bend, Oregon. When Maddie sent me here Pinterest board of engagement photo inspiration I was completely in. Lots of classy, urban ideas, with some film vibes.
Downtown Bend, Oregon has alot to offer for an urban editorial engagement photoshoot. You just have to know where to look. The Tower Theater is one of my favorite backdrops, and if your shoot is in the evening you can even see the brilliant lights turn on.
Maddie told me she wanted something soft and romantic. Staying away from anything too cheesy or stiff— we nailed the assignment. Editorial engagement photos are not something I get the chance to do often, as Bend, Oregon is quite outdoorsy and adventurous (love it though!). Its so much fun to get to do something a little different and lean into the classy upscale romantic feels. As a photographer living here in Bend, I know a good handful of great spots for an editorial look.
Even though this was a Friday in Downtown Bend, the crowds were more than pleasant and everyone was so so nice about us taking photos. I always tell my couples, people will never be nicer to you than when they see you dressed up taking engagement or wedding photos. It just brings out the best in strangers and they all love to feel like they’re witnessing something special! It helps when you are as happy as these two 🙂

Her inspiration had a lot of creative elements to it, which I loved to explore. I’m no stranger to photographing through windows, laying down on my stomach to get that high angle, and generally doing anything to add a bit of interest for my couples. It makes my job so so much fun when my clients trust me to capture them however I want. She had sent me a Pinterest Board of an overall vibe, and I was trusted to take that and run with it for their engagement photos in Bend, Oregon.
Shooting through this window at a cafe here in Bend, Oregon, there was no way for me to tell them what to do since they couldn’t hear me through the glass. I simply told them to interact with each-other and notice things about each-other. They were so sweet to watch. Clearly obsessed with each-other. 🙂
I loveee seeing your engagement rings probably as much as you love showing them off. Each ring is always so unique to you and your personality. Constantly in awe at how well your men know you.
